Geoff Dyer at Montalto

When

Event Status

Join award-winning English author Geoff Dyer for lunch at Montalto to discuss his latest work, The Last Days of Roger Federer, with beloved ABC presenter and writer David Astle.

About

Geoff Dyer is the award-winning author of over 20 works of fiction and nonfiction, including Out of Sheer Rage, Yoga for People Who Can’t Be Bothered to Do It, Zona, Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi and Otherwise Known as the Human Condition. His work has been translated into 24 languages, earning him numerous accolades including the National Book Critics Circle Award for Criticism and the Windham–Campbell Literature Prize.

Blending criticism with memoir, Dyer’s newest book, The Last Days of Roger Federer sets his own experiences of late middle age against the last days and last works of writers, painters, footballers, musicians, and tennis stars who’ve mattered to Dyer throughout his life.

For the first Books and Ideas at Montalto event of the year, join the Wheeler Centre for a shared lunch as Geoff Dyer speaks with David Astle about ageing, endings, and how to go on living with art and beauty.

Presented in partnership with Montalto.
