Fair Play Symposium: Equity, Inclusion and the Creative Industries
Tuesday 26 February – Wednesday 27 February 2019
How can the arts become genuinely inclusive and reflective of Australian society? How do structural biases prevent certain stories being told, and certain creative work being made in the first place? How do we elevate the work of many different types of artists from many different backgrounds? How have others effected change across the globe?
From the critical to the tactical, the Fair Play Symposium will focus on tangible ways to improve equity and inclusive practice in the Victorian creative industries. Over two days, we’ll hear from leading artists and creative practitioners. They’ll draw on knowledge, personal experience and the latest research, and discuss ways to elevate the work of First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse people, as well as that of artists living with disabilities.
Join local and international thought-leaders as they share perspectives and consider pathways to creativity, participation and engagement.
This event will be Auslan interpreted and live captioned. Wheelchair accessible and hearing loop.
