Australians are living through a period of exceptional prosperity – but commodity prices are dropping and the boom is set to end. Are we ready for the reforms and challenges that lie ahead? The Fifth Estate 2014 begins when Sally is joined by leading economists Ross Garnaut AO and John Edwards, to discuss Australia’s economic history, the resources boom, and what we can expect in the future.
John Edwards is a Visiting Fellow at the Lowy Institute, an Adjunct Professor with the John Curtin Institute of Public Policy at Curtin University, and a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Ross Garnaut AO is one of Australia’s leading economists. His latest book is Dog Days: Australian After the Boom.
Sally Warhaft is a Melbourne broadcaster, anthropologist and writer and the host of the Wheeler Centre’s live journalism series, the Fifth Estate, now in its sixth year. She is a former editor of the Monthly magazine and the author of the bestselling book Well May We Say: The Speeches that Made Australia.
