Texts in the City: Stasiland
Studying a book or film can be a short-cut to consigning it to boredom. But our Texts in the City series – a gift to students, their teachers and lifelong learners – brings the VCE English and Literature lists to life. In this instalment, Lili Wilkinson and Melinda Harvey look at Anna Funder’s Stasiland.
Melinda Harvey has published widely as a book critic for over a decade and is a judge of the Miles Franklin Literary Award. She is Lecturer in Literary Studies at Monash University and is currently at work on a book about women critics.
Lili Wilkinson is a reader and writer of Young Adult fiction. She was first published at age twelve in Voiceworks magazine. Her titles include Scatterheart, Pink and most recently Love-Shy and The Zigzag Effect.
