Community guidelines

The Wheeler Centre invites and encourages conversation, criticism and debate from and amongst our users. We’re here to expand your diet of ideas. We believe that truths should be tested, opinions examined and minds open to change.

That said, this is the internet. We recognise its potential to elicit the best and worst in people, but we have expectations of your behaviour, too – and you may be held legally responsible for content or material that you post, communicate or transmit on wheelercentre.com. With those things in mind, we hope that our community guidelines will help you get the best from your experience.

In using our website and our social media channels, you agree to these community guidelines, along with our privacy policy and any other policies contained on our website as the terms and conditions of use. We may change our policy from time to time, and will update this page accordingly, so make sure to check in occasionally – so that you’re aware of any changes.

If you don’t agree with these guidelines, you must not continue to use our website or our social media channels. (Sorry.)

  • The Wheeler Centre is a place where everybody should feel comfortable contributing their considered thoughts. We’re welcoming of critical engagement with our content – as published by us or other users – and encourage you to engage passionately with ideas. Bear in mind that comments posted represent the person who posts it, and shouldn’t necessarily be taken to reflect the opinions of the Wheeler Centre (or its employees or agents).

  • Personal attacks and abusive, defamatory, unlawful, threatening, obscene, deceptive or discriminatory remarks won’t be tolerated. This includes impersonating others, redundant or repetitive posting and harassment or provocation of individuals.

  • Please don’t post anything that is false, misleading or deceptive, or that breaches another party’s intellectual property rights. Thanks!

  • Attempts to maliciously access or manipulate our systems or accounts will be treated seriously, including but not limited to spamming, propaganda, irrelevant promotional material and automated/bot posts. Where you include a link to your own site, you must ensure that it won’t compromise the security and integrity of ours in any way.

  • We will distinguish between passionate arguments and toxic exchanges. Nasty conversations may require us to close comments or restrict access.

  • All material is published at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to remove or modify posts if found to breach our community guidelines.

  • We really don’t want to have to get involved, but if we must, we will. Report abuse to webmaster@wheelercentre.com.

  • We will treat your information with the respect that it deserves. Where you provide us with personal information, we will protect the privacy of your information in accordance with our privacy policy unless you tell us otherwise. Our privacy policy can be found here.

  • Treat each other with courtesy and respect, stay on topic, and enjoy the discussion.
